Jasper's latest tricks
Jasper has spent the past few months improving his building block skills. He still loves "the stackers" whatever you want call them, some plastic things that stack on each other. He got a large set of duplo jumbo bloks and spends hours making towers, some are very amazing! He stacks everything he finds, he likes to put things into bins too, then dump them out and start again. He's mastered the shape sorter (box with lid to fit square, triangle, circle, and star) pieces. He also has a few wooden puzzles with peg pieces. These puzzles really used to piss him off, he'd get soooo frustrated and throw the pieces and have a fit when they did not fit in right. Now he understands how to turn the shapes and find the right match. We do each puzzle a few times each morning.
Jasper is addicted to Elmo! One day he got the remote and found sesame street - don't ask us how. So, we started recording it for him, and soon bought a few Elmo's World DVDs. Every morning he wakes up singing the song and dancing the dance. We watch Elmo a few times a day (it's only 15 minutes, so it does not add up to toooo much TV time). Sometimes he just likes the intro song, then starts building his towers again. One episode is about "building things", he really likes that one! There are bulldozers, etc. he's pretty into trucks and makes a vroom sound when he sees one.
He's not quite talking yet. He does carry on a conversation with you though, and fully understands everything we say. His words are:
da-da
meow
go-go
yeah
roar (like a lion)
vroom (like a truck)
pfuff (like a horse)
He has tons of sign language and can put multiple words together to explain things. We can barely keep up with all his signals, he's created a few of his own.
He loves animals, especially dogs and horses. We visit the local horse stable almost daily. First a trip to the Felton playground, from there we walk over the covered bridge and over to the horse stables. He gets very excited to go, but then a bit freaked out once we get close to the horses. They are big!
(while I'm writing I'll update you on teeth. He's got all 4 top and bottom by about the first year. Then got the 4 first molars, they came in all at once in one week during early March. Now has 3 canines, also all at once in July, and I think the fourth one is coming through soon.)
Oh yeah, and he can jump! He loves to dance and jump around. Of course, climbing is another favorite skill. Tables, chairs, whatever he can reach. He's got amazing balance and rarely falls down.
