Week 40!
We're there! 40 full weeks! The baby will be born any day now...
station -2 to -1 (baby's head is 1 or 2 centimeters away from the cervix)
effacement %75 (cervix has flattened 75% of the way)
dialation 2-3 centimeters (cervix has dialated 2 to 3 centimeters)
At last week's checkup, the midwife said we were looking good to go. She "stripped membranes" which means pulling the water bag away from the cervix and uterine lining a bit - this can help with a natural induction to get things started... Something definately changed, the baby dropped lower, he moved around a lot more, and I felt more of the Braxton-Hicks contractions that night, stronger and more regular... but we did not get into the actual labor. It was still too early, I guess.
But all the excitement got me packing my bags and checking my "go to hospital" lists - so now we're all set to go when the time is right. The entire past week we've wondered, could today be the day? And in the past few days things have settled into normal and I think he'll be born on Christmas afterall...
tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock....
