Finger Foods
Jasper's first finger foods were grapes! I'd bought some champagne grapes (tiny ones) from the farmer's market for a few weeks, then suddenly Jasper would lunge at the bowl on the kitchen counter as we walked past. So, I peeled one and let him bite it. He liked it, they are super sweet! My theory is that after his top two teeth came in (now has 2 top and 2 bottom) he can bite food and is ready to eat. He started Cheerios that week too. Now it's been about two weeks and he's eating Cheerios, puffed rice, puffed corn cakes, wheat bread, mozzerella cheese, and grapes. I also tried, but he did not like these yet: apple, pear, avocado, corn, brocholli, sweet potatoe. I think he is excited about cereals, and that is fine for now. Once he's used to eating with his hands he'll start trying other stuff (will be very soon).
He also eats adult apple sauce, so I can buy a big jar, rather than baby food jars, which is a much better deal cuz he'll eat a baby jar daily.
