prenatal Yoga

I've decided to start prenatal yoga. The first class was great. It really felt good to stretch my stomach and back and arms and legs, and mind. There were only 5 of us tonight, each due in a different month. So it was interesting to see all the different bellies, and to hear everyone's story.

I'm taking the Tuesday night 7-9pm class at the Pacific Cultural Center

They provide all the equipment (mats, blocks, pillows, balls, ropes, gentle music, etc). We start the night in a circle, allowing each mother-to-be to say something about their experiences during pregnancy. Then we have breathing excercises and neck stretches, and a few other sitting poses. Next we perform some wall poses, and then standing poses. There are no limits, no pressures. You hold the pose a while, take a break, then return if you want. Of course, the squatting position is great for all of us.
